The ninth edition of the World Investment Forum officially opened in Doha, Qatar, on October 25, 2026. The three-day event, hosted in partnership with UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD), has drawn over 5,000 participants, including heads of state, government ministers, and top-tier business executives. Under the theme "Investing in the Future," the summit aims to address the complex challenges currently hindering global economic stability.

As the international community faces persistent geopolitical instability, trade policy shifts, and high financing costs, the forum serves as a critical platform for dialogue. Attendees are tasked with identifying strategies to steer capital toward sectors that require urgent support, while simultaneously working to bridge the gaps created by economic fragmentation. The discussions are designed to transform the current, often selective, investment landscape into a more inclusive engine for development.

The extensive program features 108 high-level sessions and dialogues, supported by 406 speakers across eight thematic tracks. Key areas of focus include the integration of artificial intelligence, the expansion of sustainable finance, and the strengthening of special economic zones. By examining these pillars, organizers hope to provide actionable insights that will bolster cross-border partnerships and encourage long-term economic resilience.

This year’s gathering marks a significant return to the region, as Doha hosts the event for the first time since 2012. As the forum progresses through October 27, the collective goal remains clear: to move beyond simple capital flow metrics and instead cultivate a sustainable and resilient global economy capable of weathering future shocks. The outcomes of these sessions are expected to influence international investment policies for years to come.
