Uzbekistan Surges With 8.5 Percent Growth in First Half of 2026

Official government reports confirm that the economy of Uzbekistan recorded an 8.5% expansion across the opening six months of 2026, driven by substantial acceleration throughout key non-resource industries.

The domestic services sector registered the most prominent leap with a 16.9% increase in overall activity, followed by construction, which advanced by 13.8%. Manufacturing and basic industrial operations recorded an 8% climb, alongside a steady 4.7% rise in agricultural output, according to data reviewed during cabinet meetings headed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

International capital flows contributed significantly to the half-year figures, as the country attracted $28 billion in foreign investment alongside $14.4 billion generated through export trade. The inflows coincide with upward sovereign debt rating revisions by international risk analysts, reflecting confidence in regulatory changes and stabilization policies enacted over recent fiscal cycles.

Despite the above-trend outcome, national authorities are targeting sustained growth between 9% and 10% annually to adequately accommodate dynamic demographic pressure from a population approaching 40 million citizens. Regional administrators have been instructed to devise fallback mechanisms to insulate domestic trade from volatile global commodities markets.

Macroeconomic forecasts from international development organizations, including the International Monetary Fund, suggest that although monetary tightening has tempered domestic inflation toward single digits, ongoing structural changes remain essential to maintain long-term financial stability.
