India Braces for Cyclone Murasu as Coastal Regions Remain on High Alert
Following the devastation of Cyclone Arnab, authorities are preparing for another severe storm expected to impact Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.

Coastal regions of India are currently on high alert as the nation prepares for the arrival of Cyclone Murasu. This severe cyclonic storm is projected to make landfall along the southern coast of Andhra Pradesh, bringing with it the threat of heavy rainfall and high-speed winds. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has been closely monitoring the system as it moves across the Bay of Bengal, prompting local administrations in both Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu to implement emergency protocols.
This new weather threat comes shortly after the country dealt with the aftermath of Cyclone Arnab, which caused significant damage and loss of life in Odisha and Andhra Pradesh late last month. Relief and restoration efforts for the previous storm are still ongoing, with inter-ministerial teams deployed to assess the extensive damage to infrastructure and housing. The arrival of a second cyclone so soon has placed immense pressure on disaster management teams working on a war footing.
In addition to the cyclone, northern parts of the country are grappling with seasonal challenges. Delhi is facing hazardous air quality, leading authorities to impose strict pollution control measures, including the implementation of GRAP-II restrictions. These regulations aim to curb vehicle emissions and improve the deteriorating air quality as winter conditions settle over the capital.
Beyond environmental concerns, the political and social landscape remains active. Thousands recently participated in a rally led by the INDIA bloc to voice opposition against top election officials. Meanwhile, in other parts of the country, law enforcement continues to address security incidents, including recent arrests following an attack on border personnel in Tripura. As the nation navigates these multifaceted challenges, government agencies remain focused on disaster mitigation and public safety.
