Michigan Man Arrested for Alleged Threats Against FBI Director

Federal prosecutors in Michigan have taken a 42-year-old Chesterfield Township man into custody following allegations that he issued violent threats against FBI Director Kash Patel. Anthony Daniel Palazzolo was arrested on Friday and now faces charges related to interstate communications involving threats, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Michigan. The criminal complaint outlines a pattern of escalating hostility that began in early October.

According to court documents, the investigation began after Palazzolo allegedly sent a message via Facebook on October 8 to an associate of the FBI Director. In the communication, the suspect claimed to have placed a "hit" on the individual and explicitly stated that Director Patel was also a target. While FBI agents initially interviewed Palazzolo at his residence regarding these messages—at which time he reportedly apologized and denied any intent to cause harm—the situation did not de-escalate.

Prosecutors allege that Palazzolo continued his campaign of harassment by targeting a Detroit-based FBI agent. The complaint details how the suspect sent emails containing threats of sexual violence to various federal entities, including the Secret Service, the Supreme Court, and a Texas district court. Furthermore, he allegedly left multiple voicemails for an FBI task force officer, in which he threatened to utilize deadly force against government officials.

Palazzolo appeared in U.S. District Court in Detroit on Friday, where he was ordered to be temporarily detained. A formal detention hearing has been scheduled for November 2 to determine his status while the case proceeds. As of now, the defendant has not entered a plea, and the investigation remains ongoing under the supervision of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
