Formula One Secures Future at Interlagos Through 2035

Formula One has officially confirmed that the Sao Paulo Grand Prix will remain on the racing calendar until at least 2035. The announcement, made on Saturday, secures a five-year extension to the existing agreement, which was previously set to expire in 2030. This move ensures that the historic Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace, widely known as Interlagos, continues its long-standing tradition as the premier destination for motorsport in South America.

Since its first world championship event in 1973, Interlagos has become a cornerstone of the sport, celebrated for its challenging layout and the intense atmosphere created by local supporters. F1 President and CEO Stefano Domenicali highlighted the deep connection between the sport and the region, noting that the extraordinary passion of Brazilian fans remains a vital part of Formula One’s identity and future trajectory.

As part of the new deal, the city of Sao Paulo has committed to significant infrastructure investments aimed at modernizing the venue and elevating the overall experience for spectators. Mayor Ricardo Nunes emphasized that the renewal is a major achievement for the city, noting that the event serves as a powerful economic engine, generating billions of reais in local revenue through tourism, hospitality, and commerce.

Alan Adler, CEO of the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, expressed pride in the long-term partnership, describing the extension as a testament to the dedication and strategic vision invested in the circuit. By locking in this commitment, Formula One reinforces its presence in a key market, ensuring that one of the most iconic tracks in racing history will continue to host world-class competition for the next decade.
