Cyclone Arnab Batters India's Eastern Coast

The eastern coast of India has been struck by the powerful Cyclone Arnab, which made landfall between Bapatla and Visakhapatnam earlier this week. The storm, classified as a very severe cyclonic storm, brought intense rainfall and high-velocity winds reaching up to 150 kmph, causing significant disruption across the region.

Tragically, local authorities have confirmed that five people lost their lives in Andhra Pradesh due to the severe weather conditions. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) monitored the storm closely as it crossed the coast, with the landfall process lasting approximately six hours.

In the aftermath, government officials, including Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, have been reviewing the ground situation to coordinate relief efforts. While the cyclone has since weakened, it left behind a trail of minor damage, including fallen trees and localized infrastructure disruptions that emergency teams are currently working to clear.

Beyond the immediate weather crisis, the nation remains active on several other fronts. Political tensions have risen following controversial remarks regarding the Prime Minister's family, leading to nationwide protests organized by the BJP. Meanwhile, in the financial sector, the Reserve Bank of India is increasing scrutiny on lenders to combat rising cybersecurity threats, and the country continues to engage in high-level diplomacy, recently extending an invitation to Pakistan for an upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation meeting in New Delhi.
