Westinghouse Eyes $50 Billion Valuation in Upcoming IPO
The nuclear energy giant is preparing for a public market debut as early as October to capitalize on surging industry demand.

Westinghouse Electric Co., a prominent name in the nuclear technology sector, is reportedly aiming for a market valuation exceeding $50 billion as it prepares for its initial public offering (IPO). Sources familiar with the matter indicate that the company, which provides critical reactor technology and maintenance services, could initiate its public filing as soon as October. This move follows a confidential registration process that began earlier this summer.
The company is currently under the joint ownership of Brookfield Renewable Partners and Cameco Corp., both of which stand to benefit significantly from the proposed valuation. For Cameco, a 49% stake in the firm would imply a value of more than $24.5 billion, marking a substantial increase from the valuation at the time of their 2023 acquisition. The IPO is being managed by a consortium of major financial institutions, including Goldman Sachs and Citigroup.
This push toward the public markets comes amid a broader resurgence in the nuclear energy industry. Increased interest from the technology sector, particularly regarding the massive power requirements for data centers, has bolstered investor confidence in nuclear power. As the U.S. government continues to provide support for nuclear infrastructure, Westinghouse is positioning itself to lead the next generation of energy production.
Westinghouse has been actively working with the U.S. Department of Commerce to secure financing and permitting for a significant pipeline of reactor projects, including its AP1000 reactor designs. This strategic alignment with federal energy goals is intended to foster a new era of nuclear expansion both domestically and internationally. While the final terms of the offering remain subject to market conditions, the company’s move signals a major milestone for the historic energy provider.
