West Ham United have officially confirmed the appointment of Scott Parker as their new head coach. The 46-year-old former Hammers midfielder has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract, tasked with revitalizing the club's campaign in the Championship. Parker steps into the role immediately, succeeding Nuno Espírito Santo, who was dismissed on Tuesday following a string of underwhelming results.

The decision to change leadership came after West Ham suffered consecutive home defeats against Southampton and West Bromwich Albion. These losses left the club sitting eighth in the league table, six points adrift of the leaders, Middlesbrough. The board identified Parker as the standout candidate after evaluating ten potential managers, citing his deep connection to the club and his proven track record in the second tier.

Parker arrives with significant experience in navigating the Championship, having successfully guided Fulham, Bournemouth, and Burnley to promotion during his managerial career. Despite his recent departure from Burnley following their relegation from the Premier League, the West Ham hierarchy remains confident that his expertise is exactly what is required to secure an immediate return to the top flight.

In his first official comments, Parker expressed his pride in returning to a club that holds great personal significance. He emphasized his commitment to bringing passion and consistency to the squad, acknowledging the difficulty of the division while remaining optimistic about the team's potential. He is set to take charge of his first match this Wednesday, as the team travels to face Cardiff City.

This appointment marks the fourth time West Ham has hired a permanent manager since the departure of David Moyes in May 2024. Club officials have expressed their full support for Parker, noting that his understanding of the club's identity and his rapport with the supporters were key factors in his selection. He will be supported by a coaching staff including Steve Potts, Gerard Prenderville, and Billy Lepine as he begins his tenure.
