UPDATE ON RETURN of Mike Evans After unable to finish 49ers' win, exits with Achilles soreness

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Mike Evans was unable to finish the team's Week 6 victory after exiting late in the second quarter with Achilles soreness. Despite his early departure, the 49ers held off the Washington Commanders for a 23-17 win at Levi's Stadium, preserving their perfect 6-0 record.

Evans entered the Monday Night Football matchup listed as questionable. He had missed practice all week due to ongoing ribs and Achilles issues. Head coach Kyle Shanahan admitted postgame that the team knew Evans might not last the entire night, but the 33-year-old veteran felt confident enough to suit up.

The injury flared up with 1:10 remaining in the second quarter. After hauling in a 16-yard slant from quarterback Brock Purdy to secure a first down, Evans stayed down on the field, grasping at his right leg. He was assisted off the field by medical personnel and was seen limping severely in the tunnel. Though initially labeled questionable, the 49ers officially ruled him out shortly after halftime. Before his exit, Evans was highly effective, pacing the 49ers' aerial attack with three receptions for 94 yards.
