Udogie sidelined: Knee issue keeps defender out of Coventry clash
Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi confirms Destiny Udogie was rested as a precaution following a recent knee injury.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Destiny Udogie was notably absent from the matchday squad during the club's recent victory over Coventry City. The 23-year-old was left out of the lineup after sustaining a knee injury during his side's 1-1 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford, a match in which he played for 74 minutes.
Head coach Roberto De Zerbi addressed the situation prior to kickoff, explaining that the decision to exclude the Italian international was a calculated move to avoid further complications. Emphasizing a cautious approach to player fitness this season, De Zerbi stated that the club was unwilling to take unnecessary risks with Udogie's health.
This latest setback adds to a challenging period for the defender, who has navigated a series of fitness concerns since joining the North London side from Udinese in 2023. While Udogie had managed to feature in four of Tottenham's opening six Premier League fixtures, his availability remains a point of concern for the medical staff.
In his absence, Tottenham successfully secured their first league win of the season, defeating Coventry 3-1. The team's defensive depth was tested further during the match, as Andrew Robertson—who was covering the left-back position—also exited the pitch with a foot injury. With both players now facing potential time on the sidelines, the club will likely look to options such as Micky van de Ven or Ben Davies to fill the void in upcoming fixtures.
