Uber Successfully Prices Debut €4.5 Billion Euro Bond Offering

In a significant shift for its corporate financing strategy, Uber Technologies Inc. has successfully raised €4.5 billion through its inaugural five-part euro-denominated bond sale. This move marks the first time the ride-hailing leader has ventured into the European debt market, moving away from its historical reliance on US dollar-based funding. The capital raised is expected to support the company's broader financial objectives, including the refinancing of debt related to its acquisition of Delivery Hero SE.

The offering featured a multi-tranche structure with fixed-rate securities spanning maturities from three to 20 years. By diversifying its debt across these various time horizons, Uber has effectively managed its repayment schedule while appealing to a wider array of institutional investors. This strategic pivot allows the company to better align its liabilities with its European revenue streams, creating a natural hedge against currency volatility.

Leading up to the sale, Uber engaged a syndicate of major financial institutions—including Goldman Sachs, BNP Paribas, Bank of America, Deutsche Bank, and Morgan Stanley—to gauge market appetite. The successful issuance follows Uber’s attainment of investment-grade credit ratings in 2025, a milestone that significantly lowered its borrowing costs and expanded its access to global capital markets.

Market analysts noted that the deal saw strong interest, with initial pricing discussions reflecting competitive yields over mid-swaps. The move is part of a broader trend of American corporations increasingly turning to Europe to diversify their funding sources. With this debut, Uber has solidified its presence in the European financial landscape, providing the firm with long-term stability as it continues to scale its global operations.
