Two Dead Following Shooting at Citibank Tampa Campus
A security guard intervened to stop an armed suspect after a targeted attack at a Florida business complex.

A violent confrontation at a Citibank office complex near Tampa, Florida, left two people dead on Wednesday, including the suspected gunman. Authorities reported that the incident began around midday when the suspect drove a vehicle into a courtyard at the Sabal Park business center and initiated an attack with a rifle. The suspect fatally shot a female employee before being confronted by an armed security guard inside a cafeteria.
During the ensuing exchange of gunfire, the security guard successfully neutralized the shooter. The suspect was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister described the event as a targeted incident, though investigators are still working to determine the relationship between the victim and the assailant and have not yet established a clear motive.
Law enforcement agencies, including hundreds of deputies and specialized units, swarmed the sprawling campus to secure the area and ensure the safety of the thousands of employees working on-site. Video footage from the scene captured the tense atmosphere as workers evacuated the four-building complex while officers conducted a thorough sweep of the premises.
Citigroup confirmed they were aware of the tragedy and are fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation. While the immediate threat has been contained, officials noted that the crime scene is extensive and will require significant processing. The identity of the victim remains withheld pending notification of next of kin, as the community grapples with the aftermath of this deadly workplace shooting.
