Rep. Ilhan Omar Reports 17 Items Seized During Federal Home Search

Democratic Representative Ilhan Omar has disclosed that federal authorities removed 17 items from her Washington, D.C., residence during a pre-dawn search conducted earlier this month. According to the congresswoman, a team of 10 to 15 agents from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) arrived at her home at approximately 6:00 a.m. to execute a judicially authorized search warrant. The operation reportedly lasted nearly five hours as agents inspected the property room by room.

The search is part of an ongoing criminal investigation that has drawn significant public attention. While the Department of Justice confirmed that HSI agents carried out the warrant, officials have provided limited details regarding the specific nature of the probe. Reports indicate that the investigation has also involved the issuance of over a dozen grand jury subpoenas, including some directed at members of the congresswoman's family.

In response to the seizure, legal representatives for Rep. Omar have formally requested that the Justice Department immediately return the confiscated property. In a letter sent to federal prosecutors, her attorneys challenged the legality of the search, alleging that the government failed to adhere to proper judicial instructions and characterizing the investigation as politically motivated.

Rep. Omar has publicly criticized the raid, describing it as an attempt to intimidate her. She has firmly denied allegations of wrongdoing, including claims related to immigration fraud, and maintained that she possesses a legal right to serve in Congress. As the legal battle over the seized items continues, the congresswoman has vowed that she will not be silenced by these federal actions.
