Philadelphia Foster Mother Charged with Murder of 10-Year-Old Girl
Authorities discovered the body of Malayshia Alford in a vehicle in New Jersey following a weeks-long search.

A 36-year-old Philadelphia woman, identified as Carprice Williams, is facing murder charges following the tragic death of her 10-year-old foster daughter, Malayshia Alford. The young girl had been reported missing in late October, sparking an extensive search effort involving local police, the FBI, and community members. Her remains were ultimately located late Wednesday night inside the trunk of a vehicle in Lindenwold, New Jersey.
According to the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office, investigators utilized surveillance footage from October 26, which captured the moment the child's body was removed from the home in a bag. This critical evidence led law enforcement to a specific vehicle and a witness, whose testimony eventually guided authorities to the location of the girl's body. Medical examiners have determined that the child died from blunt force trauma, and her death has been officially ruled a homicide.
Prosecutors have indicated that there is evidence of systemic physical abuse within the home. Reports suggest that the victim suffered from various injuries, including deep cuts and swelling, and was subjected to restrictive punishments. Furthermore, investigators allege that Williams attempted to obstruct the investigation by using the victim's mobile phone to send deceptive text messages after the child had already died.
In addition to the murder charge, Williams faces multiple counts, including endangering the welfare of a child, tampering with evidence, and abuse of a corpse. District Attorney Larry Krasner described the situation as horrific, and officials have confirmed they are coordinating with the city's child welfare agency to review the circumstances surrounding the placement of the child in this home. The community and the victim's family have expressed profound grief and are demanding full accountability for the failure to protect the young girl.
