Pakistan Urges Diplomatic Restraint Amid Escalating Iran Nuclear Tensions
Islamabad calls for urgent de-escalation and technical cooperation as regional security concerns mount.

In a recent briefing at the United Nations, Pakistan has formally urged all parties to exercise maximum restraint regarding the deteriorating situation surrounding Iran’s nuclear program. Ambassador Usman Jadoon, Pakistan’s Acting Permanent Representative to the UN, emphasized that the lack of consensus and rising hostilities have made a diplomatic settlement more urgent than ever.
Addressing the Security Council, the Pakistani delegation warned that irresponsible rhetoric and destabilizing actions only serve to increase the risk of conflict. Islamabad has consistently advocated for a path that prioritizes peace, security, and regional stability, urging stakeholders to avoid postures that could further aggravate the current crisis.
Pakistan also stressed the importance of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in resolving technical disputes. According to the Pakistani stance, the agency must be allowed to carry out its mandate without political interference, ensuring that technical questions are addressed through established, competent bodies rather than through geopolitical maneuvering.
This diplomatic push comes as part of a broader effort by Pakistan to foster regional peace. Recent high-level discussions involving Pakistan, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye have underscored a collective commitment to sustaining dialogue. By promoting these multilateral engagements, Islamabad aims to mitigate the impact of regional divisions and prevent further institutional paralysis within international forums.
