Pakistan has officially urged all parties involved in the escalating Iran nuclear crisis to exercise maximum restraint and prioritize diplomatic solutions. During a recent UN Security Council briefing, Pakistan’s Acting Permanent Representative, Ambassador Usman Jadoon, expressed deep concern over the deteriorating situation, warning that the lack of consensus among global powers is hindering a peaceful resolution. Islamabad has consistently advocated for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to be allowed to conduct its technical mandate without political interference.

Beyond the immediate nuclear dispute, Pakistan has also taken a firm stance on the structure of the United Nations. In a recent session of the UN General Assembly, Pakistani representatives called for the abolition or severe restriction of the veto power held by permanent members of the Security Council. Islamabad argues that the current veto mechanism leads to 'institutional paralysis' and deepens global inequalities, urging the international community to pursue a more equitable and effective decision-making process.

On the domestic front, the economic landscape in Pakistan has shown signs of stabilization. According to recent data from the Lahore School of Economics, policy uncertainty regarding trade and investment declined throughout September 2026. This positive trend is attributed to the State Bank of Pakistan’s decision to maintain its current policy rate, alongside successful revenue collection efforts by the Federal Board of Revenue, which met its first-quarter targets.

Meanwhile, Pakistan continues to engage in active regional diplomacy. Officials have participated in high-level talks with counterparts from Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye, emphasizing a collective commitment to regional peace and security. These discussions aim to foster stability in the Middle East and South Asia, reflecting Islamabad's broader foreign policy goal of de-escalating conflicts through dialogue rather than confrontation.
