Novak Djokovic Claims 102nd Career Title at China Open
The Serbian legend secured his seventh Beijing crown after Alex de Minaur retired due to injury.

Tennis icon Novak Djokovic added another milestone to his storied career on Tuesday, capturing his 102nd tour-level title at the China Open. The 39-year-old secured the victory in Beijing after his opponent, Alex de Minaur, was forced to withdraw from the final due to a left adductor strain early in the second set.
The match began as a grueling physical contest, with both athletes pushing each other through a demanding opening set that lasted over an hour. Djokovic ultimately claimed the set in a tie-break, winning 7-6 (7/3). Following the conclusion of the set, both players required medical attention, signaling the intensity of the battle on the court.
De Minaur, the world number nine, attempted to continue after receiving treatment, but his physical limitations proved too significant. After winning the opening game of the second set, the Australian was unable to proceed, leading to an abrupt end to the championship match. De Minaur later expressed his sincere apologies to the spectators, stating he was disappointed that the final could not reach its natural conclusion.
With this win, Djokovic maintains an unblemished 34-0 record in Beijing, marking his seventh title in the Chinese capital and his first at the event since 2015. Reflecting on his performance, the Serbian star credited his enduring success to a "never-die spirit" and the grit that has sustained him through a season marked by various health and physical challenges.
This victory is particularly significant as it ensures Djokovic will finish the season with at least one title for the 21st consecutive year. As he continues to compete at the highest level, the win also provides a vital boost to his standing in the race for the season-ending ATP Finals, keeping his momentum strong as the tour progresses.
