Multi-State Manhunt Intensifies After Escaped Inmate's Vehicle Found in Illinois

A high-stakes multi-state manhunt is currently underway for 28-year-old Jacob Allen Morley, a convicted murderer who escaped from the Northwest Correctional Complex in Tiptonville, Tennessee. The search expanded significantly after law enforcement discovered the stolen getaway vehicle—a white 2008 Ford F-350—abandoned in Marion, Illinois, on Tuesday morning.

Morley, who was serving a life sentence for first-degree murder and other charges, reportedly breached the prison's perimeter fence late Sunday night while still wearing his prison-issued uniform. Following his escape, he allegedly stole the truck from a farm in Lake County, Tennessee, early Monday morning, marking the beginning of his flight across state lines.

While the recovery of the vehicle provides a critical lead, officials from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) emphasize that Morley’s current location remains unknown. The TBI has officially added the fugitive to its 'Most Wanted' list, offering a reward of up to $2,500 for information that leads to his capture. Law enforcement agencies, including the Illinois State Police, are coordinating efforts to track the escapee.

Residents in the Marion area have expressed growing concern as the search continues. Local reports indicate that community members are taking extra precautions, such as locking doors and monitoring social media for updates, as the presence of a dangerous fugitive in the region remains a significant public safety priority.

This incident marks the second escape from Tennessee Department of Correction custody within the month of October. The department has faced intense scrutiny recently, following the resignation of its commissioner in the wake of a separate, high-profile controversy involving another inmate. Authorities continue to urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately.
