Michael Bloomberg Injects $80 Million to Bolster Democratic House Bid
The former New York City mayor is directing significant capital toward key congressional races in a final push before the midterm elections.

Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has launched a major financial intervention, contributing approximately $80 million to support Democratic candidates in the final weeks of the 2026 midterm election cycle. This substantial capital infusion, distributed throughout September and October, is specifically designed to help the party regain a majority in the House of Representatives.
According to reports from his team, at least $50 million of this total is earmarked directly for House-focused efforts. A significant portion of the funding includes $24 million directed to Everytown for Gun Safety, an organization co-founded by Bloomberg, and $16 million provided to the House Majority PAC, a primary super PAC aligned with Democratic leadership.
The strategic allocation of these funds is intended to offset the financial advantages currently held by Republican campaigns. By financing specific advocacy groups and coordinated advertising campaigns, Bloomberg’s contributions are effectively freeing up additional resources for Democrats to deploy across various competitive districts.
Political analysts note that this late-stage spending blitz underscores the high stakes of the upcoming election. Beyond simply securing the 218 votes required to elect a Speaker of the House, the investment aims to provide Democrats with a more comfortable legislative cushion. Advisers have indicated that the billionaire may consider further financial support as the final countdown to Election Day continues.
