Lewis Hamilton addresses Ferrari setup challenges
The seven-time world champion identifies car balance issues as a primary factor in recent performance gaps to teammate Charles Leclerc.

Lewis Hamilton has openly discussed the technical hurdles he is facing at Ferrari, noting that persistent setup struggles have hindered his ability to compete at the front of the pack. Following the United States Grand Prix, where he finished in fourth place, the British driver highlighted that his car's balance was significantly compromised during the race. He explained that while the vehicle felt competitive during initial checks, it suffered from severe understeer once the race commenced, making it difficult to maintain pace with the leaders.
The veteran driver pointed to specific differences in how he and teammate Charles Leclerc configure their cars, particularly regarding front-wing adjustments. Hamilton suggested that these subtle variations in setup have contributed to a performance deficit, causing him to lose valuable points in the Drivers' Championship. He remains optimistic, however, that refining these balance issues will allow him to unlock more speed in upcoming rounds.
Beyond the mechanical setup, Hamilton also noted that his race strategy was impacted by tire choices. Starting on used soft tires left him at a disadvantage compared to rivals on fresh rubber, leading to increased degradation during his opening stint. Although he demonstrated stronger pace after switching to hard compounds later in the race, the initial time lost proved too significant to overcome for a podium finish.
As the season progresses, the focus for Hamilton and the Ferrari engineering team is to achieve greater consistency. With Leclerc currently holding a narrow advantage in their internal battle, Hamilton is determined to extract more performance from the SF-26. By addressing these recurring balance and setup inconsistencies, he believes he can close the gap and secure more favorable results in the final stages of the championship.
