Charles Leclerc demonstrated impressive speed at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez on Friday, securing the fastest lap times in both practice sessions for the Mexico City Grand Prix. The Ferrari driver navigated the high-altitude circuit with precision, ultimately clocking a 1:17.827 in the second session to edge out McLaren’s Lando Norris and Mercedes’ George Russell. This performance underscores Ferrari's potential to challenge for a strong result this weekend.

While Leclerc dominated the timesheets, the focus of the paddock remains firmly on Kimi Antonelli. The championship leader, who finished the second session in fourth place, is on the verge of making history. Should the 20-year-old secure a ninth-place finish or higher in Sunday’s race, he will become the youngest Formula 1 world champion ever, marking a significant milestone for the sport.

The Friday sessions were not without drama. The second practice was briefly interrupted by a red flag following a collision between Max Verstappen and Liam Lawson in the stadium section, an incident that drew attention from the stewards. Additionally, Lewis Hamilton’s session was cut short due to a power failure in his Ferrari, forcing the seven-time champion to park his vehicle on the track.

Despite his strong showing, Leclerc remains cautious about his prospects for the remainder of the weekend. He noted that Ferrari must execute a flawless performance to maintain this momentum through qualifying and the race. With the championship battle intensifying, the pressure is mounting on all contenders to optimize their packages in the thin air of Mexico City.
