Hamilton Addresses Ongoing Ferrari Setup Challenges

Lewis Hamilton has openly addressed the technical hurdles he has faced with his Ferrari, noting that suboptimal car configurations have hindered his performance in recent outings. The seven-time world champion admitted that he has lost significant points over the last several races, struggling to find the same level of comfort and speed that his teammate, Charles Leclerc, has managed to extract from the SF-26. According to Hamilton, the issue is not a lack of raw pace from the vehicle, but rather the difficulty in achieving an optimal setup that remains consistent throughout a race weekend.

During the recent United States Grand Prix, these challenges were particularly evident. Hamilton reported that his car suffered from severe understeer and a lack of front-end grip during the early stages of the race. He explained that he spent much of the weekend attempting to dial in more front wing to correct the balance, yet the car's behavior remained unpredictable. He noted that while the vehicle felt promising during practice sessions, the handling characteristics often shifted once the race began, leaving him unable to maintain a competitive pace until the final stint.

Comparing his situation to that of Leclerc, Hamilton highlighted that there are subtle but critical differences in how they configure their cars, specifically regarding aerodynamic settings. He suggested that his side of the garage has consistently been under-hitting the setup, which has forced him to play catch-up during race days. While he expressed satisfaction with his own driving performance, he emphasized that the team must improve its ability to hit the ground running with a balanced car from the start of the weekend.

Looking ahead, Hamilton remains optimistic that the team can rectify these issues before the next round in Mexico. He acknowledged that the Ferrari package is fundamentally strong, as evidenced by the team's overall performance, but stressed that they are currently not robust enough to capitalize on that potential every time they hit the track. For Hamilton, the focus is now on refining the correlation between their simulation data and track performance to ensure he can better unlock the car's true capabilities.
