Greenville Police Conclude Investigation into Hayden Panettiere's Death

The Greenville Police Department in South Carolina has formally closed its investigation into the death of actress Hayden Panettiere. Following a thorough review of the evidence and medical findings, officials have determined that the 36-year-old's death was accidental.

Panettiere, widely recognized for her performances in television series such as "Heroes" and "Nashville," was discovered unresponsive at a temporary residence in Greenville on August 16. Emergency responders were alerted to the scene by a 911 call regarding a cardiac arrest, but she was pronounced deceased shortly thereafter.

According to reports from the Greenville County Coroner’s Office, the actress died due to the toxic effects of multiple substances, including fentanyl, 4-ANPP, alprazolam, methocarbamol, and quetiapine. An autopsy confirmed that there were no indications of physical trauma contributing to her passing.

While the coroner’s office had previously finalized its findings regarding the cause and manner of death, local law enforcement kept their independent inquiry active to pursue remaining leads. With the investigation now officially shuttered, the case is considered resolved.

Panettiere’s career spanned several decades, including notable roles in the "Scream" film franchise and "Ice Princess." Earlier this year, she released a memoir titled "This Is Me: A Reckoning," in which she candidly discussed her personal history, including her experiences with fame and her ongoing battles with postpartum depression and substance use.
