Gabriel Martinelli Departs Arsenal for Al Hilal in Record-Breaking Deal
The Brazilian forward concludes a seven-year tenure at the Emirates Stadium following a £60 million transfer to the Saudi Pro League.

Arsenal have officially confirmed the departure of forward Gabriel Martinelli, who has completed a permanent move to Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal. The transfer, valued at £60 million, marks a significant milestone for the Gunners, as it establishes a new club-record sale, surpassing the previous benchmark set in 2017. The move brings an end to the 25-year-old's seven-year association with the north London side.
Since arriving from Brazilian club Ituano in 2019, Martinelli became a vital component of the Arsenal squad. Over the course of his tenure, he made 278 appearances and contributed 62 goals across all competitions. His time at the club was highlighted by major silverware, including the Premier League title secured last season, as well as the 2020 FA Cup and the 2023 FA Community Shield.
Despite his history of success, the final weeks of his Arsenal career were marked by uncertainty. Reports indicate that the player was excluded from the opening matchday squads by manager Mikel Arteta, leading to speculation regarding his future. His agent, Marcos Casseb, later noted that while there was interest from clubs in Italy, Germany, and the Premier League, the move to Saudi Arabia was deemed the appropriate path for all parties involved.
Martinelli has already begun his tenure in the Middle East with immediate impact, reportedly scoring a hat-trick shortly after his arrival. The Brazilian international, who has earned 27 caps for his country and represented them at multiple major tournaments including the World Cup and the Olympics, now joins an Al Hilal side looking to bolster their attacking options. Arsenal expressed their gratitude for his contributions and extended their well wishes for his future endeavors.
