Emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was not possible without President Zardari's signature, Bilawal

PP has always imposed emergency in constitutional way, Fazlur Rehman can criticize us but should speak openly against terrorists

Karachi: Chairman People's Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that Chief Minister KP Sohail Afridi is coward who is not ready to defend his land, PP's decision is clear provinces can be formed in constitutional and legal way, Maulana Fazlur Rehman can do political criticism on us but Maulana should have spoken openly against terrorists.

Addressing ceremony on 19th anniversary of October 18 Karsaz tragedy, he paid tribute to martyrs of Karsaz tragedy and said that October 18 is a black day in country's history, on return of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto to homeland a cowardly attempt was made to target her through terrorism, jiyalas who came for reception sacrificed their lives to protect their leader, blood of martyrs of Karsaz tragedy testifies that terrorism, extremism and violence cannot shake resolve of democracy, People's Party will continue struggle for stability of democratic institutions, protection of constitution and upholding of people's rights.

He said that workers of People's Party consider it their responsibility to struggle against terrorism, Shaheed Mohtarma had also said in her last public meeting that some forces do not want to see Pakistani writ in Swat, when PP formed government in two thousand eight we started operations in Swat KP and fulfilled BB's promise, we fought terrorism and defeated terrorists, we did what entire world's army could not do in Afghanistan.

Bilawal said that terrorists who were in Pakistan's jail were freed from jail, Pakistan today is bearing loss of those wrong decisions, today we have again reached place where some forces want to remove our flag from Swat, we are fighting terrorism from Khyber to Khuzdar.

He said that Chief Minister KP was coward, Chief Minister is not ready to defend his land but is ready to compete with People's Party, here incidents of terrorism are not taken seriously, in Karsaz incident all evidence was washed away, People's Party was fighting terrorists, now we have prepared whole society, every citizen of Pakistan is fighting terrorism, we are trying to create peaceful environment, we are not in position at this time to say that we have fulfilled BB's dream in country, when MRD was founded, we sat with parties which used to oppose Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto adopted path of political reconciliation for democracy, in MRD movement reconciliation was also done with opposing political parties, those who opposed Shaheed Benazir Bhutto also later became part of political reconciliation.

He said that in 1988 also Shaheed Benazir Bhutto had to make political compromises to form government, if transparent elections were held then Shaheed Benazir Bhutto could have got two-thirds majority, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto preferred democratic system and future of people over personal interest, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto also gave priority to interests of party workers and political leaders, Eighteenth Amendment was passed through consensus and political reconciliation, all parties sat together and talked for approval of Eighteenth Amendment, it is necessary to find middle way and create consensus in political negotiations, compromise in politics means finding acceptable way through mutual consultation, importance of political reconciliation and consensus in democracy cannot be denied, how can implementation of manifesto be made possible in current political situation, it is necessary to give relief to people on basic issues and implement manifesto.

He said that political strategy should be such that delivery can be done on basic issues, defending own manifesto and basic principles is also important part of politics, there is need to solve public problems through effective politics in current situation,

He said that Mohsin Naqvi knows what is policy of People's Party and President Zardari, this work is not possible without signature of President Zardari, People's Party's decision is clear provinces can be formed in constitutional and legal way, if this is not political stunt then why provinces are not being formed where consensus exists? There is no problem in Gilgit then why provinces are not being formed?

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that Maulana Fazlur Rehman has right as opposition to criticize government, as far as mention of imposing emergency is concerned, People's Party has always imposed emergency in constitutional and legal way, people of Maulana Fazlur Rehman's party also were martyred in attacks of terrorists, Maulana Fazlur Rehman can do political criticism on us, Maulana should have spoken openly against terrorists, where incidents of terrorism are happening in Balochistan and KP, Chief Minister of one province's government was responding but Maulana Sahib was in denial, politics should not be done over terrorism.
