A tragic incident in New York City’s Times Square has claimed the life of Erin Piacenti, a 32-year-old vice president at Bank of America. The fatal encounter occurred on Monday afternoon when an assailant armed with two large knives launched an unprovoked attack on pedestrians near West 42nd Street and Seventh Avenue.
Authorities reported that the suspect, a woman, targeted two individuals in rapid succession. Piacenti, a resident of Chester, New Jersey, who worked in the bank's business selection and conflicts unit, was rushed to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, where she was later pronounced dead. A 68-year-old man was also injured during the assault and remains in stable condition at a local hospital.
Responding officers from the New York Police Department arrived at the scene shortly after the 4:30 p.m. incident. The assailant was struck by gunfire and subsequently pronounced deceased at the hospital.
Bank of America released a formal statement expressing deep sorrow over the loss of their colleague. The organization described Piacenti as a valued teammate and extended their condolences to her family and loved ones.
