Only those people oppose counter-terrorism who have nexus with these terrorists, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry

Islamabad: DG ISPR Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry says that among facilitators of terrorism was also incompetent and indifferent government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, one facilitator in province who was creating obstacle in counter-terrorism is now not there.

In interview given to international news agency 'Reuters' on 30 October 2026, DG ISPR clarified on operations against terrorism that we have a clear strategy to deal with terrorism, part of which is to eliminate terrorists and all their facilitators inside Pakistan.

DG ISPR said that there are also some issues related to terrorism which we have to handle internally. No person in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is against counter-terrorism operations, only those people oppose counter-terrorism whose nexus is with these terrorists.

Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said that in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, intelligence-based operations are happening instead of any major military operation and security forces conduct about 200 intelligence-based operations on daily basis. Intelligence-based operations are conducted by police, army and other law enforcement agencies with joint cooperation.

DG ISPR said that our mindset is not like India's that we declare all internal problems as external and we do not say that all terrorism in Pakistan is only because of Afghanistan but Afghanistan is the main base from where terrorism happens in Pakistan where leadership of terrorists, their training camps and launch pads exist.

Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said that no country or army has that experience of counter-terrorism which we have due to fighting for last 20 years, people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have suffered most hardships due to this terrorism.

DG ISPR said that proud people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are brave and are a very special part of Pakistani society. There are no people better than Pashtuns, they are proud of their traditions, people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa demand peace and stability and they also deserve it.

Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said that question related to fall of government is a political question whose answer politicians can better give, however what we understand and know is that change of government happened according to constitutional and legal regulations.

Balochistan terrorism

DG ISPR said that terrorists on behest of their masters are trying to sabotage development and development projects of Balochistan. In Balochistan terrorists attack not only mining but also LPG trucks, schools and teachers.

He said that terrorists also try to destroy bridges and railway lines so that economic activities can be suspended, everything that provides employment and economic strength to local population, terrorists target it.

Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said that elite of Balochistan wants to keep common people poor and illiterate to maintain its influence, terrorists and elite want to keep Baloch people in poverty and backwardness so that narrative of deprivation remains, there is nexus of terrorists and elite in Balochistan, because both are opposed to development of province.
