AFC Postpones Al Nassr vs. Al Wasl Champions League Elite Match
Travel disruptions prevent UAE club from reaching Riyadh for scheduled continental clash.

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has officially announced the postponement of the highly anticipated AFC Champions League Elite third-round match between Saudi Arabia’s Al Nassr and the UAE’s Al Wasl. The fixture, which was originally slated to take place in Riyadh on Monday, could not proceed as planned due to unforeseen flight disruptions that hindered the visiting team's ability to travel to the Saudi capital.
Reports indicate that the Dubai-based club was unable to secure the necessary travel arrangements to arrive in Riyadh in time for the match. Following the logistical challenges, Al Wasl communicated their situation to the governing body, leading to the decision to delay the encounter. This development marks another instance of scheduling changes in the region, as several Saudi Pro League matches have also faced recent postponements for similar logistical reasons.
While the AFC confirmed the postponement, the organization has not yet provided a specific reason for the travel issues or established a new date for the game. In an official statement, the confederation noted that the updated schedule and kick-off time for the match will be determined and communicated in due course.
Al Nassr, led by star forward Cristiano Ronaldo, had been preparing to host the match at Al-Awwal Park, aiming to build on their recent momentum in the competition. Fans and stakeholders are now awaiting further updates from the AFC regarding when the two sides will finally meet to contest their third-round group stage fixture.
