⚖️ $177 Million AT&T Class-Action Settlement Approved: What Affected Customers Need to Know

A federal judge granted final approval to a $177 million class-action settlement on October 2, 2026, officially ending the massive legal battle over AT&T's dual 2024 security breaches. The landmark decision clears the way for millions of current and former subscribers to receive their payouts.

The cash fund resolves a series of consolidated lawsuits filed after back-to-back cyberattacks compromised the private information of over 73 million consumers.

🛡️ The Dual Breaches Behind the Settlement

The final payout amount is divided into two separate financial pools based on how the data was compromised:

• The $149 Million Dark Web Pool: Resolves the massive leak of an archival database containing names, addresses, contact information, and Social Security numbers. The breach impacted 7.6 million active users and 65.4 million former customers.

• The $28 Million Snowflake Cloud Pool: Addresses the mid-2024 cyberattack where hackers infiltrated AT&T's third-party Snowflake cloud workspace, downloading six months of sensitive customer call and text logs from 2022.

** Estimated Payout Tiers ** Because approximately 4.4 million claimants met the filing deadline, individual baseline payouts are distributed on a tiered, pro-rata basis:

• Tier 1 (Dark Web Leak): Impacted users will receive an estimated $39.00 to $40.00. • Tier 2 (Snowflake Cloud Hack): Affected users will receive an estimated $7.50 to $8.10. •** Tier 3 (Overlapping Factors)**: Additional class elements will yield an estimated $6.50 to $7.10. • Documented Loss Claims: Class members who proved direct financial harm or identity theft are eligible for cash reimbursements up to $7,500.

When Will Payouts Arrive?

Following the final approval order on October 2, the court's standard 30-day appeal window is expected to close on November 2, 2026.

Barring any unexpected legal appeals or administrative delays, the settlement terms require funds to be sent out within 60 days of the effective date. Claimants should expect digital payments and paper checks to start rolling out by late November or December 2026.
